craft 4 love & love 146

if you've been reading my blog for a bit you may heard me talk about LOVE146 before.

LOVE146 is a non profit organization that is near and dear to my heart. they are working to prevent and ABOLISH child sex slavery and exploitation. when i think back to five years ago or so (not that long ago) i had no idea that people, and children specifically, were being bought and sold, every day, like commodities. my truth is this: i don't want to know that. i don't want to go there. i don't want my mind to flash with the images and thoughts of the horrors that are sex slavery. i want to run away to my happy little house and my happy little family and not come to grips with this being the reality. and not just the reality in other nations. but, also, the reality right here in america. i had two things i could do when i learned of this. a) walk away. or b) do something. walking away is easy. doing something, giving our time, talents, and money is harder. i don't always want to do the hard things but, you know what?

Christ commands this of me.

i have to, more often than not, search my heart, splash some water on my face and say to myself: wake up, danielle! the Bible was not written to me, but FOR me. for me to follow. let me say that again and remind myself:

the Bible was written for me to follow.

Psalm 33:5
The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

Proverbs 14:31
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.

Psalm 82:3-4
Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Isaiah 1:17
Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.

Zechariah 7:9
This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.'

so, a little over a year ago my husband and i organized a task force for LOVE146. if you want to learn more about starting a local task force you can check out the information here or send me an email. do not doubt yourselves in this. you don't need a lot of people to run a task force. you just need to take that first step and start it. then pray over it, take action, raise money and raise awareness. most of all,
tell these children's story.

last year, we held our very first craft 4 love. it was a wonderful, blessed event that raised over $1,700 for LOVE146. you can read more about last year's event right here. i am excited to tell you that the second annual craft 4 love is saturday, november 3rd.

here is where you, my sweet friends in the blogging and handmade community, come in.

last year our event was put on entirely by donations so that 100% of ticket sales, and raffle ticket sales, went directly to LOVE146. that is what we are doing again this year but i can't do it without you.

yes, i'm talking to you.

first up: we are in need of some craft supplies for all of our projects. can you donate some? if you're not local, can you donate a gift card or money to go towards supplies to make this event possible? here's what we're looking for this year:

second: i am looking for people willing to donate items for the raffle at craft 4 love. the raffle was such a huge success last year that i have high hopes for all the money it can bring in for LOVE146 this year! do you have a shop? can you donate one of your items? a bunch of your items? heck, do you not have a shop but can create something lovely? we'd love your help.

"Thou shalt not be a victim, thou shalt not be a perpetrator,
but above all, thou shalt not be a bystander."

this is your opportunity to be part of LOVE146 for our event. this is your opportunity to speak justice and mercy for these children.  don't be a bystander today. fight for justice and mercy for those who need it the most.

in return for your donation we would love to include your business cards and information in each favor bag for the attendees. i will also link your blog or shop in my post on this year's event.

are you in?
