i'm just kidding, you crazy women!

Photobucket

"sugar 'n spice aprons produces vintage reproduction aprons and designer aprons that bring back the simple elegance and style of days gone by. aprons saw the height of their popularity during the 1930s-1960s, when the fabric prints and styles available were overwhelming! aprons were worn almost as a staple with every outfit; ladies had one for every day of the week! i love the simple beauty of vintage aprons, the unique and interesting fabric prints; and here in my shop, i try to recreate the same beauty from days past. all of my apron designs are 100% original designs, inspired by vintage apron styles from the 1920s through the 50's."

Photobucket

    Fatal Attractions

    4 squares of unsweetened chocolate
    1/2 cup shortening (butter)
    2 cups sugar
    2 teas. vanilla
    4 eggs
    2 cups flour

    1 cup chocolate chips
    1/2 cup icing sugar

Melt choc squares and butter, do not boil. Stir in sugar and allow to cool. Spoon mixture into a bowl, add vanilla and beat well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg. Combine flour and baking powder , add to creamed mixtures. beat well. Fold in choc chips. Refridgerate for one hour. Roll dough into 1" balls and roll in icing sugar until coated. Bake on greased sheets at 350 F. for 9- 10 minutes.

    Sweet Dough for pull aparts

    2 Tbsp. instant yeast
    2 teas. sugar
1 1/2 cup of lukewarm water
    1 cup milk
    6 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 cup sugar

    5-6 cups of flour
    3 eggs beaten

Add yeast and sugar to lukewarm water. Stir and let stand for a few minutes. Add milk, butter, sugar, and salt to 2 cups flour to make batter. Add yeast & eggs, beat well. 64. If this doesn't help me win, I don't know what will!

I am quite famous for my "Strawberries and Sabayon in Cookie Shells". It's not as hard as it sounds either!

    Feeds Six!

    Cookie Shells:
    1 egg
    3/4 cup powdered sugar
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/8 teaspoons salt
    1/3 cup all purpose flour
    2 tablespoons melted butter

Beat egg and sugar until fluffy; stir in vanilla and salt. Fold in flour and butter. Spoon approximately 2 tablespoons batter into a 5 inch circle, spreading batter evenly onto a greased and floured baking sheet. Bake, 2 at a time, in a preheated 350 degree oven until brown, about 4-5 minutes. While hot, lift cookies off with a spatula and mold over the back of a small bowl. Cool completely and remove from blow.

    Sabayon
    6 egg yolks
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup Grand Marnier (orange liqueur)
    1/2 cup heavy cream, whipped
    4 cups strawberries
    1/2 cup chopped pecans

(Note: This tastes far to alcoholic to me, so I just whip up a batch of Chantilly cream!)

Whisk yolks and sugar in the top of a double boiler over simmering water until fluffy. Gradually whisk the orange liqueur, beating until slightly thickened. Refrigerate mixture about an hour; fold in whipped cream. Divide strawberries evenly among six cookie shells. spoon sauce over each and sprinkle with nuts.

    Enjoy!

  67. Here's what I would bake in my new apron: Roasted nuts- sweet and spicy, perfect for the holidays.

    1. Preheat oven to 300 F.

    2. Line a large (11 x 17 inch) rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

    3. In a small bowl, mix together

    1 tbsp. kosher salt
2 tsp. cayenne pepper (or more or less to taste)
    1 tbsp. paprika
    1/3 cup sugar

    4. In a bowl, whip 2 large egg whites until foamy. I did this by hand with a whisk.

    5. Gently stir in the spices and 5 cups total of raw pecan and walnut halves. Be careful that the egg whites stay as foamy as possible while mixing.

    6. Spread the nuts in a single layer on the baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.

    7. Turn the oven down to 250 F. Rotate the sheet and continue baking for 15 more minutes.

    8. Let the nuts cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

  87. I absolutely love all of your aprons...so adorable!! My favorite has to be the Marianne apron. I can see myself in the kitchen on Sunday making my fried chicken with mashed potatoes, chicken gravy, green beans and of course my buttermilk biscuits. I get many compliments on the biscuits...they are pretty good if I do say so myself:) Here is my recipe. Enjoy!!

    The Best Buttermilk Biscuits

3 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered buttermilk (in the baking aisle)
    2 T. sugar
    4 tea. baking powder
    1 1/2 tea. salt
    1 tea. baking soda
    12 T. (1 1/2 sticks)unsalted butter cut into pieces
4 T. shortening or lard chilled
    1 1/4 cups whole milk

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Using a pastry blender or a fork cut in the butter and shortening until it is course looking (about the size of peas). Stir in milk with a rubber spatula until the dough comes together. Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and gently knead the dough until uniform. DO NOT OVER MIX THE DOUGH!!!! This will make the biscuits too tough. Roll or pat out the dough to about an inch thick and cut out biscuits. Gently pull scrapes together to finish up dough. Arrange biscuits upside down (seriously...upside down) on the baking sheet about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake for 5 minutes then rotate pan. Reduce oven temperature to 400 degrees and continue to bake until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool for 5 minutes. Serve warm.

Hope you enjoy these as much as we do!! Merry Christmas!

  107. I would make my famous Cranberry Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies! Here's the recipe:

Prep Time 20 Minutes Cook Time 10

    Ingredients
    •¼ cups Shortening
    •½ sticks Butter, Softened
    •1 cup Brown Sugar
    •1 teaspoon Vanilla
    •1 whole Egg
    •2 cups Flour
    •1 teaspoon Baking Powder
    •½ teaspoons Salt
•2 cups Fresh Or Frozen Cranberries, Chopped In The Food Processor Or Blender
•1-½ cup Dark Chocolate Chips (I Prefer Ghirardelli's)
    •1 cup Chopped Nuts (optional)
    Preparation Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease or line cookie sheets with parchment paper.

Using an electric mixer, beat shortening, softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add vanilla and egg, mix well.

Combine in a separate bowl the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the shortening mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms. Stir in chopped cranberries, nuts, and chocolate. Do not overmix or your cookies will be pink, which, depending on you, may or may not be a good thing.

Immediately drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to a wire rack to cool.

    Makes about 3 dozen.

To freeze and bake later, roll out cookie balls, freeze individually until solid on cookie sheets, pop into a plastic baggie and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
